The Best Leather Case for iPhone Duo: Full Leather or Leather Wrap with Aramid Shell?

  • 6 min read

Four leather cases for Apple’s first foldable iPhone, compared on what decides it: weight, cards, MagSafe charging and whether the leather stays on every day or comes off when you want it.

The best leather case for the iPhone Duo depends on whether you want leather on the phone all the time. Choose the full-leather Folio (65 g) or Wallet (63 g, two cards) if you want leather every day and MagSafe charging without removing anything. Choose the Leather Folio Wrap with Aramid Shell (69 g) or the Leather Wallet Wrap with Aramid Shell (81 g, two cards) if you want an 18-gram aramid case for every day and a leather cover you put on when you want it. All four are made to the exact dimensions of Apple’s first foldable iPhone, close over the outer display with a magnetic leather strap, and protect the camera with an aluminum ring.

What makes a case for a foldable different?

A foldable asks more of a case than a regular iPhone does. The iPhone Duo is 84.1 by 117.8 by 11.3 mm closed and 5.2 mm thin open, so the leather has to sit flat on a body that changes shape, the cover has to close without fighting the hinge, and nothing can get in the way of the fold.

Every Vaja iPhone Duo case covers the 5.4-inch outer display when closed. The 7.6-inch inner display is protected by the phone folding shut on itself. You can unfold the phone with any of these cases on, and Apple Pencil works on the inner display with the full-leather Folio on.

Full leather: the Folio or the Wallet?

Choose the Folio if you already carry a wallet; choose the Wallet if you want to carry a couple of cards and a few bills. Both are handcrafted in full-grain leather sourced from Patagonia, Argentina, lined with leather inside, closed by a leather strap with a built-in magnet, and charge on Apple MagSafe with the case on.

  • Folio iPhone Duo Leather Case: pure protection, no card slots, 65 grams. Its rigid, reinforced cover adds 7.5 mm to the folded phone.
  • Wallet iPhone Duo Leather Case: two RFID-protected card compartments and a hidden pocket for folded bills, sewn in so they never come off. At 63 grams it is slightly lighter than the Folio, because its soft leather cover is lighter than the Folio’s rigid one.

Leather Wrap with Aramid Shell: two cases in one

The wraps work in two layers. The Aramid Shell is a two-piece aramid fiber case, 1 mm at the back and 18 grams, that protects both halves of the phone and leaves the hinge free. On top of it, a handcrafted leather wrap mounts on the Shell’s MagSafe magnets and closes over the outer display with a magnetic leather strap. Take the wrap off and you have an 18-gram case for the gym or the charger; put it back on and the phone is in leather again.

The Shell’s front piece holds by pressure. An optional adhesive strip comes pre-applied for extra security: peel off the protective film to use it, and it comes off without residue.

The trade-off is charging: the Aramid Shell charges on MagSafe, but the leather wrap has to come off first. Both wraps fit the same Shell, so you can add the other one later without buying another case.

Which iPhone Duo case should you choose?

  • You want leather all the time and charge often: a full-leather case. The Folio if you carry a wallet, the Wallet if you don’t.
  • You want the phone as thin as possible most days: a wrap with Aramid Shell. You keep the 18-gram Shell on and add the leather when you want it.
  • You want to leave your wallet at home: either wallet works. The full-leather Wallet and the Wallet Wrap with Aramid Shell both hold two cards and a few folded bills.
  • Weight is close either way: 65 g for the full-leather Folio against 69 g for the Folio Wrap with Aramid Shell, and 63 g for the full-leather Wallet against 81 g for the Wallet Wrap with Aramid Shell.

Which leather color goes with Night Sky or Star White?

Floater Indigo is the match for a Night Sky iPhone Duo. For Star White, Floater Latte is the closest tone, but it is also our most delicate leather: it can pick up dye from dark denim and shows stains more easily, so Floater Black is the low-maintenance choice. The full-leather Folio and Wallet come in Floater Black, Floater Indigo and Floater Latte; the wraps come in Floater Black and Floater Indigo over a black Aramid Shell.

When do iPhone Duo cases ship?

Apple’s iPhone Duo goes on sale October 23, 2026. All four Vaja iPhone Duo cases are available to pre-order now and ship by November 20, 2026, in the order pre-orders were placed.

iPhone Duo leather case FAQs

Will an iPhone 18 Pro or iPhone 18 Pro Max case fit the iPhone Duo?

No. The iPhone Duo is a foldable with a hinge and a different footprint, 84.1 by 117.8 by 11.3 mm closed, so cases made for the iPhone 18 Pro or iPhone 18 Pro Max do not fit it, and iPhone Duo cases do not fit those models either.

Can I charge the iPhone Duo on MagSafe with a leather case on?

With the full-leather Folio or Wallet, yes: built-in magnets align with Apple MagSafe chargers through the leather. With a wrap with Aramid Shell, take the leather wrap off first; the Shell itself charges on MagSafe.

Can I unfold the iPhone Duo with the case on?

Yes. The cases stay on while you unfold the phone to its 7.6-inch inner display, and nothing crosses the hinge on the wraps with Aramid Shell, so the case adds no resistance to the fold.

Does the case cover the iPhone Duo hinge?

The Aramid Shell does not, by design: it is two separate pieces, one for each half of the phone, so nothing crosses the fold and the hinge moves exactly as Apple designed it.

How do Vaja iPhone Duo cases close?

With a leather strap that has a built-in magnet. The cover closes over the 5.4-inch outer display and the strap holds it shut against the back of the case. There is no snap or stud.

How much does a leather case add to the iPhone Duo?

Between 63 and 81 grams, depending on the case. Apple lists the iPhone Duo at 254 grams. The full-leather Folio adds 7.5 mm to the folded phone, measured empty and closed.

What leather does Vaja use for iPhone Duo cases?

Real, full-grain leather sourced from Patagonia, Argentina, cut and finished by hand. Natural variations in the hide make every piece slightly different, and the leather develops a patina with use.
